09/06/2009 Arcadia and Frankfort Fishing Report
Capt.Eric Andersen from Andersen Charters located at Arcadia and Frankfort,MI reports….. 9/6/2009
Fishing this last week was pretty good for Coho and King Salmon with fish being caught in 30 to 50 ft of water.
Mini planerboards with 3 and 4 color lead core lines are working great in the shallow waters along the Arcadia and Frankfort shorelines.
Most charter Capt.s are using Grizzly,Silver Hordes and J Plugs off both planerboards and downriggers .Pearl and Silver colors is our best colors for us on most days.
King Salmon are already being caught on the Manistee,Bear Creek and Betsie rivers, cold fronts and high winds the last 2 weekends in August put alot of fish up these rivers. Manistee lake has been hot last week and many small boaters there are catching these big fishon their way to the Big Manistee and Little Manistee rivers. Same situation with Betsie bay at Frankfort.
Coho are staging in East and West Platte bays…if your thinking of doing a charter for Salmon, better do it soon as most of these fishwill be up the area rivers in the next 10 days or so..
Fishing friends at Arcadia,MI are reporting to me ….that they’re catching Steelhead in 300 to 500 ft. of water with downriggers set 30 to 60 ft.downwhile trolling for 2 and 3 year old Kings. Several boats came in with more Steelhead than Kings in their Fish Coolers..
