Captain Ron Westrate of CoHooker Charters reports from Saugatuck:

Another good week of fishing in Saugatuck with 10 to 20 fish in the creel consisting of big salmon and big lake trout. 80 foot of water to 120 foot of water produced chinook salmon in the mid teens and lake trout pushing 13 pounds with occasional steelhead coming in the upper part of the water column.
11 inch Pro Chip flashers (white/glow) and 8 in Hot Chip (white/glow and green wiggle) with a Rapture green No See Um flies produced very well on the downriggers. Wire divers with Pro Chip flashers (white/glow, silver/green, white/blue, white mountain dew) with either Rapture green Hypnotist or No See Um flies produced most of the fish this past week. The steelhead came on 200 copper with Stingray silver orange tip and blue green dolphins.
We did some perch fishing this past week and caught a limit catch in 40 foot of water. When we are running out to fish salmon I see perch in 40 to 50 foot of water. There were reports of good catches out of South Haven in 15 foot of water, so our perch fishing should continue to improve.

Lake Trout fishing is on the slow side right now, but should start to pick up. Some have been taken out in 120 to 160 feet of water on the Dodgers and Spin and glows, and medium and large size spoons off the downriggers. Try yellow, green with white, purple and green, and black colors. Try fishing straight out, and North of the harbor.
Salmon fishing is also on the slow side but some are still being caught mixed in with the Lake Trout.
Some Steelhead are being taken out on the color lines in 120 to 160 feet of water, don’t forget to try the new Offshore Tadpoles on with your monofilament lines to get them down deeper when using your Offshore Boards. Use the bright colors for best results.
Perch fishing is slow, you might try South of the harbor by the cemetery in 25 to 50 feet of water with minnows.
Walleye fishing is also on the slow side, try off the North wall early morning and late evening casting small body baits and spoons. Try the green, purple, silver and blue colors. Also try trolling out in the areas where the water starts to clear in 30 to 60 foot of water North of the harbor with crawler harnesses, small spoons and small body baits. Try Gold and green and white colors.

Some nice Bass and Pike are still being taken inside the harbor and close to shore casting small body baits and spoons.

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The water on the bank went from very warm to very cold in the past couple of days. The fish and the baitfish have become scattered and are very selective in their biting habits. We are marking a lot of fish but catching them has been a challenge the past few days. With the colder water temps they have been scattered in the column. This morning we got a fish on a 3 color core(15ft) and the next fish came at 67′ down. The fish are from the project to the point right now but with the south wind they will be congregating back on the point. Big paddles with flies are producing as are Moonshine spoons. Fireballs and Double orange crush on the high cores. Good Fishin….Capt Ed
