Captain George Freeman reports from Ludington:

North to the middle of the 01′s and set up in 180 fow. Our first rod down took a nice King. It came on the chute rigger down 159 ft. with a big Dreamweaver Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with a regular size Yeck Lighting spoon. It took the stack. [...]

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The brown fishing has slowed down because of all the winds of the past week. But we are still catching Lake Trout in from 8 to 20 ft on SS brown gobies and Pearl Bombers.
We were only ably to fish the point 1 day. Our best was 120′ to 160′ down on the riggers with Moo Moo teasers. Low wire divers at 185′ and 220′ took fish. A 400 copper with a DW mag blue Dolphin also took two hits.

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:
The fishing has slowed down because of all the North winds of the past week. Also, I drew the first season and was turkey hunting for the first three days. Called in a beautiful gobbler, 24 lbs, 10″ beard and 1″ spurs.
It has been hard to get out and the water temp has fallen with the north winds. The lake has gone from 50 degrees to the low 40s. We went out Thurs AM until the wind forced us off. We took a Brown in front of the Lincoln on a Storm nat. perch. Took a Laker at the first curve on a black and gold Rapala. Pulled and ran to the bath house in 160′ of water and set up. Took 2 kings 160′ down on a blue paddle with blue bubble fly, took 1 king on a 350 copper with a blue dolphin. Took 1 King on a 400 copper tipped with a blue jackel moonshine and then it got very rough and windy.

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:
The boat is back in the water and ready for the season, and just in time. We are having a very good year for Brown Trout in Ludington so far. I have taken 63 so far and I think we still have 2 to 3 weeks of good fishing left for the Brownies. Also there are good numbers of Chinook on the point right now. The fish are deep, in excellent shape, fiesty and most important very hungry.
Best baits for the browns are stick baits and smaller spoons like DWSS, Yecks and Stingers.
For the salmon it has been mostly Spindoctors and flies and big paddles with meat rigs on the wire divers, riggers and 350 and 400 coppers. Moonshine spoons are also producing.

I have pulled my boat and am looking forward to deer hunting, ice fishing and spending time with my grandson.

I will not be putting a regular fishing report until next spring, usually in April. However if you are going to be fishing in the Ludington area give me an email and I will give you the best current information that I have. Thanks for your support this past season and I will see you next spring.

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The north winds continue to blow, but when we can get out we are catching 2 and 3 year old Kings, Steelhead, Lake Trout and Cohos. Fishing is best on the bank from the brinewell to the three bears in from 120′ out to 180′ of water. Best fishing is in the top 70 ft. 5 cores, 7 and 10 cores, 300 and 350 coppers are all producing. Meat rigs on the low wires is a good setup right now. The pierheads are very slow because most of the salmon have gone up the river to spawn, although there are steelhead showing up. Some boats are casting ping a tees at the mouth of the river and having some success. The Pere Marquette River has salmon in it all the way up to Baldwin. Best times to fish the river are early AM and just before dark at night. Flatfish, Ping a Ts, and Storm Fire Tigers are top producers in the river.
