Capt. Jon Kolehouse of Hat Trick Charters reports from Ludington:

The fishing the last few days has been nothing short of outststanding!! Morning and afternoon trips have produced limit or near limit catches of King Salmon up to 18 lbs. These fish are so hungry and aggressive the bites have been great with fish hooking up very well! With cold water top to bottom the fish have been coming off short 5 color lead cores all the way down to the bottom. If you are looking for the best fighting fish of the year now is the time! These fish are MEAN!!!!

The best depths have been from 75-150 foot of water north of Ludington.

Top baits have been

White flashers and with pickled sunshine or mirage flies

Silver Streak sponge bob spoon in both reg. and magnum

Yeck starburst was smokin on 5-7 colorsMoonshine green flounder pounder in the reg. size was good set as a fixed slider

We have openings ….call soon

Tight lines and heavy coolers

Captain Dave James  from Fish Hunter Charters reports from Frankfort:

Fishing has picked up this week with good catches of trout/salmon.  Took my 3 year old out for 2 hours and he caught 3 kings and 2 lake trout.  130 fow seems to be the best, with regular size spoons 30-80 down.

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The spring kings left the pierheads but are now BACK again. The Kings are from straight out, to north to the Three Bears. Dreamweaver Super Slim Mixed Veggies, Red Monkey Puke, Garys Dolphin and Blue Dolphin are all working right now. Blue bubble spinnies and Blue Fairway flies on the wire divers. Yeck Lightnings and Polecats are good bets for the spring kings either on the riggers or behind the three color or 5 color cores and coppers. The water in the Lake is super clear so we have to get the baits far behind the boards.

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The browns and steelhead are in the nearshore waters, and at the pierheads and in front of the state park. There are some kings south of the project but be careful of the Indian nets there. Rapala stick baits and Dreamweaver Super Slims painted in the Rapala colors are all working right now. Green Dolphins and Blue Dolphins are good bets for the spring kings either on the riggers or behind the three color or 5 color leadcores. The water in the Lake is super clear so we have to get the baits far behind the boards. Black and silver, Gold and silver, Chartreuse, and Red are all working.

Good Fishin…..Capt Ed

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

Ahoy there. The boat is out of storage and back in the water at the Ludington Municipal Marina. We are in slip #16 on dock F. I will be putting a fishing report at least once a week until the action picks up and then at least twice a week during the best part of the season. The browns and steelhead are in the nearshore waters but with all the East wind the fishing has been on the slow side. Rapala stick baits and Dreamweaver Super Slims painted in the Rapala colors are my best performers right now. The water in the Lake is super clear so we have to get the baits far behind the boards. Black and silver, Gold and silver, Chartreuse, and Red are all working. Lake trout season opened early for us but they are very elusive so far this spring. Good Fishin…..Capt Ed

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The fish are out in the deepwaters now. From the 35s out to the 4200#s. The thermocline is deep-90′ down it is 56 degrees. Almost any moonshine early, with the Happy Meal and Bad Toad doing the best for me lately, rerg size spoons are finally taking fish again and although the thermocline is deep we are taking fish on the three cores, the 5 cores and 7 and 10 cores. The higher fish are mostly steelies so we are using double orange crush, fireballs, red lazers and riversides. Double Glos and Blue Splatterbacks on the cores and Meatrigs on the coppers are also taking fish. Green spindoctors with Dark Seaweed flies and later 11″ White paddles with Froggy meatrigs are a good bet either on the riggers or the wire divers. The fish are also in Pere Marquette Lake and in the Pere Marquette river in good numbers. In Pere Marquette Lake it doesnt matter what you use as long as it is a J-plug or j-plug type bait, with Chrome Redhead and Grey Ghost being the favorite colors. In the river #5 spinners, HotnTots, Glo Thundersticks and PingaTees are good bets. The salmon are in the Sauble at the State Park and Spinners and egg sucking leach flies are producing now. Good Fishin…..Capt Ed
