Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The water on the bank went from very cold to very warm in the past couple of days because of all the south and southwest winds. The fish and the baitfish have become scattered and are very deep in the water column. We are marking a lot of fish and they are in the deeper waters, 125′ down to 160′ deep in from 140′ to 200 ft of water. The fish are from the project to the point right now but with the south wind they will be congregating back on the point. Big paddles with flies, and Spindoctors with meat rigs are producing as are Moonshines on the 300 coppers. Wire divers out from 180′ to 300′ with spindocters and spartan flies are working in the deep waters. Good Fishin….Capt Ed

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The water on the bank went from very warm to very cold in the past couple of days. The fish and the baitfish have become scattered and are very selective in their biting habits. We are marking a lot of fish but catching them has been a challenge the past few days. With the colder water temps they have been scattered in the column. This morning we got a fish on a 3 color core(15ft) and the next fish came at 67′ down. The fish are from the project to the point right now but with the south wind they will be congregating back on the point. Big paddles with flies are producing as are Moonshine spoons. Fireballs and Double orange crush on the high cores. Good Fishin….Capt Ed

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The fishing has moved north to the point for the most part, from the 00’s to the 0550’s. Thats the good news, the bad news is that with all of the South and Southwest winds of the past week the water temps have warmed up dramatically. And with the warm waters the Sea Fleas have EXPLODED. Fishing has changed from high in the water column to fishing very deep in the column. Add to this that its a very early bite and the fishing becomes a challenge. For starters if youve got flea-flicker line now is the time to use it, if not now might be the time to invest in some. The temp was 60 degrees at 80′ this AM. Riggers from 70 to 125′ ft down with moonshine early and then big rotators later. Rotators and big paddles with meatless teasers or meat on the wire divers from 175′ out to 230′. Cores, core and a half, 300 coppers and 400 coppers with mag spoons in Blue dolphin, raspberry carbon, yellowtails, Bad Toads all took fish. Good Fishin….Capt Ed

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The fishing has moved north to the point for the most part, from the 00’s to the 0550’s. The fishing has switched from an morning bite to a VERY EARLY morning bite. 3 Cores, 5 cores and 7 cores tipped with Fireballs and Double Orange Crush are working well. Surface temps are warming up. But the best fishing is in the top 70′, in from 80′ to 150′ of water. Lemon ice, Green gloes and Blue Dolphins on the riggers and White spin doctors with green sparkle flies on the wire divers out to 125′ to 180′. The fish are very fiesty and give a good fight in this cold water. Good Fishin….Capt Ed

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

From the project to the 0400s are the best waters lately. We are taking Chinook Salmon, Steelhead and Lake Trout. 3 Cores, 5 cores and 10 cores, 150′ and 300′ coppers are all taking fish. Surface temps are warming up with the recent nice weather. Dolphin spoons on the cores, lemon ice and green gloes on the riggers and spin doctors on the wire divers. We are taking fish all over in the water column on the riggers. The fish are very fiesty and give a good fight, although there are a lot of smaller fish in the area right now. Good Fishin….Capt Ed

Capt. Ken Deaton of J-Lyn Charters reports from Harbor Beach:

Limits of Lake Trout are still being taken straight out, North and South of the harbor on Dodgers and Spin and glows fished right down on the bottom. Continue using the medium and large size spoons off the downriggers as well. Best colors continue to be glow in the dark, pink with white dots, yellow, green, and black colors. Work the 60 to 130 foot of water areas for best results.
Steelhead are being taken out on the color lines in 90 to 120 feet of water, try the new Offshore Tadpoles on with your monofilament lines to get them down deeper. The Offshore boards are also working well with 5 and 10 color lead lines with bright color spoons.
Coho, Pinks, and King Salmon are still being taken mixed in with the Lake Trout using medium and magnum size spoons off the boards and downriggers from 30 to 70 foot down in the same depth of water. Again try adding Tadpole weights with spoons off the Offshore boards to get the lines down deeper.
Perch fishing should start picking up. Try by the Light House and along the channel inside the harbor with minnows and night crawlers. You might want to try South of the harbor by the cemetery in 20 to 40 feet of water as well.
Walleye fishing has slowed down a bit but best areas will be off the North wall early morning and late evening casting small body baits and spoons. Try the green, silver and blue colors. Also try trolling out in 18 to 40 feet of water with crawler harnesses, small spoons and small body baits.

Bass and Pike are being taken inside the harbor and close to shore casting small body baits and spoons.
