Captain Steve Hamilton of First Class Charters reports from Manistee.

Fishing has improved and we had a nice catch of fish this past Monday. A
mixture of Salmon and Steelhead.
We fished in the Tight Lines for Troops on May 24, 2010. This is a fishing
event that we participated in that veterns of our armed forces fished on
approx. 30 charter boats from Manistee. Close to 200 vets participated in
this fishing experience. On our boat we had Army, Navy and Air Force.
We fished straight out of the Harbor in about 120 ft to 425 ft. Our best
hits came on lead core, 5 to 10 colors out. Our water depth that was most
productive was 266 to 325 ft.of water depth.
We fished straight out and went north some. Our top 10 numbers were 16/17.
We used a variety of lures, green with glow and pearl. Green and Blue
dolphins and some oranges.
We use alot of DW super slim lures: Magic Man, Riverside, Fly girl. We also
used divers, about 100 to 125 ft back. Our downriggers were not very
productive, the one hit we had on a downrigger came at 117 ft. down.
The fishing should get better with each day and as the water warms up.

Captain Steve Hamilton of First Class Charters reports from Manistee.

Fishing was OK for us today considering the last week has been so cold and
rainy and lots of wind.
We had a mixture of Salmon, Steelhead and Lake Trout. Fished straight out of
the harbor from 125 to 375 ft., our top numbers were 12 to 16. Used lead
core-10 to 15 colors, riggers were down as far as 100 to 150 ft. There was
really no pattern, used a variety of lures: Pro King Mag Hornet, Stinger
mixed veggies and Hello Darlin-DW Super Slim. White flashers worked good
with lighter green flys. Also used the bigger trolls on the bottom for Lake
trout.

The Salmon fingerling’s from our Manistee net pen project were released on
05/14, they doubled in size and were very healthy.

Spoon bite and Spin Doctors *White” with an Aqua Gold fly. The magnum spoons been good too, “Green Glo” Fishing should only get better as we get some nice weather coming in.

Captain Steve Hamilton of First Class Charters reports from Manistee.
Lots of wind and rain the past few days. Boats that have been able to fish
are going to the Point and fishing the Shoreline out to 100 Feet. of water.

Mainly using Carmel and Blue dolphins for Lures.

Some smaller boats fishing Manistee Lake for pan fish.

*In the next week a survey should be done on the status of the Commercial
fishing nets out on the Lake.
At this time the old card back to July 9,2009 is the most current!
Hopefully more information on the net locations and any changes over the
winter should be forth coming in the next 10 days.
