Capt. Frank Piku From Captain Franks Fishing Charters reports from Lake St. Clair

WEATHER WAS GREAT!!! LIGHT WINDS OUT OF THE South made our trip to the Canadian side of Lake St. Clair an easy ride. We fished off the Bassett River in 20’ of water and the Perch were schooled up.

Using light spinning rods and Perch rigs with minnows we had no trouble catching 200 nice Perch releasing all under 10” We even caught 3 nice Smallmouth Bass too.

The big surprise was a 44” Muskie that grabbed one of the Perch on a light tackle rod. Terry the angler of the day fought this to the boat and everyone got a good look at her. When the net touched her tail she went ballistic and broke the line. A quick release was easy this way.

Now is the time to take advantage of the fall Perch run and also the BIG ladie muskies that are fattening up for the winter.

We are fishing till end of November Just give me a call for a date Captain Frank Piku 305 509 1547

Come aboard my Bertram 28’ sport fish.

FISHING REPORT ON PERCHING!!!! LAKE ST. CLAIR

The HOW, WHEN, AND, WHERE

HOW: using snelled hooks, with 1 once weight at the bottom. Baiting with Emerald shiner minnows on each hook.

WHEN: Now is the time for the perch to school up. Best time of the year from October thru November, weather permiting.

WHERE: Most of Lake St. Clair is good but the best is in front of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club and the South Shore of the lake near Belle River, on the Canadian side of the lake. Best is to charter a knowledgeable Captain that knows the best locations and maybe even his best secret spots.

Capt. Frank Piku From Captain Franks Fishing Charters reports from Lake St. Clair

This has been a family fishing week, with many young boys, and girls fishing aboard GOLDEN STREAK with there Fathers, Grandfathers, and Uncles too. Great to see a 8 year old girl bait her hook and even take off the fish and put them in the cooler.

It has been a hot bite with both Walleyes, Smallmouth Bass, Perch and even Muskie.

Fishing near the South channel on the American side of Lake St. Clair we are finding schools of Walleyes and Bass too. A record 7lb Bass was landed by 9 year old Scout. Father was happy he didn’t want it mounted. All the boys caught there Fathers limit of Bass with lots of Perch also. Youngster under 18 years of age don’t need a fishing license and fish under there dads.

We had our best luck along the reef of the Canadian Shore.

We only trolled for Muskies on one trip for about an hour and, this 15 year old caught his first Muskie. His dad said we would be back for a muskie trip this fall.

Its great to see Fathers bring there Sons, Daughters too, having fun fishing, and not just computer games.

Every trip this week produced limit catches. We had lots of fish cleaning to do, for family fish fries.

Call me to take your family or your fishing buddies on a hot fishing trip

MUSKIE FISHING TRIP

It started out with thunder and lighting in the morning so we waited and by 10 am we ventured out into Lake St. Clair

Boogied over to the south shore of the lake near the Red Barnon the Canadian side. Once we set up we had strikes and our results were 4 for 8 . That means we boated and released 4 Muskies and lost 4 . It was a tie score we even landed a big Walleye and a Smallmouth Bass on Muskie lures. These fish were hungry. Than just before pulling lines a gigantic Buzz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! went off. The reel just kept smoking till there was no line left on the reel. This was the big Giant Muskie that rules the lake. WE didn’t get to see him as he was long gone, like a home run. He is still out there and may be the worlds record Muskie.

You too can fish for him and lots more Muskies, Walleyes, Bass and big Jumbo Perch too. just call me for a date Captain Frank 305 509 1547

This past week was a awesome time on Lake St. Clair I had 4 days of fishing with 4 diffrent families.

We caught our limit of Smallmouth Bass on each day and had the bonus of a cooler full of Big Jumbo Perch too. Filling a cooler full of fish each day. I fish the Canadain Shore from Thames River to Stoney Point in 19'of water depth. This area is loaded with Schools of Bass and Perch. We even have the problem of many Muskies eating our catch before we can boat the Bass, or Perch. using plastic tube lures and artifial chubs seem to work. For Perch we use Worms. The fishing now is hot and we can find fish all over the south shore of Lake St. Clair.

MUSKIE HEAVEN

My sons Hockey Friends came fishing and spent this Saturday aboard Captain Franks new 28’ Bertram Sportfish on Lake St. Clair not on the ice rink.

After catching over 100 big Jumbo Perch we tried our luck at Muskie fishing. All under 10” were releasd. We only used 1 " pieces of night crawlers as we can't have live minnows abpoard in Canada We fished off Stoney Pointe Canada on Lake St. Clair

Open attachment for the pictures of the results.

Big Perch are schooled up and we are catching limits of JUMBOS. Smallmouth Bass are hitting after the spawning period also.

Also the Muskie fishing is hot. Call Captain Frank for a date on the Lake.

Call 305 509 1547 look up my web site captainfranksfishingcharters.com

Have fun catching Walleyes, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, Piku, and Muskies
