Capt. Frank Piku From Captain Franks Fishing Charters reports from Lake St. Clair

WEATHER WAS GREAT!!! LIGHT WINDS OUT OF THE South made our trip to the Canadian side of Lake St. Clair an easy ride. We fished off the Bassett River in 20’ of water and the Perch were schooled up.

Using light spinning rods and Perch rigs with minnows we had no trouble catching 200 nice Perch releasing all under 10” We even caught 3 nice Smallmouth Bass too.

The big surprise was a 44” Muskie that grabbed one of the Perch on a light tackle rod. Terry the angler of the day fought this to the boat and everyone got a good look at her. When the net touched her tail she went ballistic and broke the line. A quick release was easy this way.

Now is the time to take advantage of the fall Perch run and also the BIG ladie muskies that are fattening up for the winter.

We are fishing till end of November Just give me a call for a date Captain Frank Piku 305 509 1547

Come aboard my Bertram 28’ sport fish.

Captain John Giszczak of Stray Cat Charters reports from Luna Pier:

Perch fishing has been from Turtle Island all the way up to Bolles Harbor. Fish between the Consumers plant and Turtle Island in 10 feet of water - Out in front of Toledo Beach Marina in around 13 feet of water. You will find some Jumbo's around E-Buoy and on the sides of some of the humps in the dumping grounds - usually when you find them they are big - don't venture to far out the fish are moving closer to shore. Start short and work your way out
Emerald shiners still seem to be the preferred bait
We have been catching lots of smallmouth bass over the dump and in front of the Homrich mansion in 13 to 15 feet of water and 15 to 17 feet on the humps.
Perch fishing for smallmouth bass video
Don't get greedy if you end up in Ohio water the ODNR has been patrolling everyday and passing out tickets for "over fish" like candy on Halloween. They will board you, count your fish, and just a few over - can cost everybody on the boat $250.00 plus $20.00 a fish over
The last couple of days we have had a north east blow and the lake has gotten dirty so you will have to get to deeper water to be successful.
If you don't get-em move!!!

Capt. Ron Westrate of First Call 2 Charters reports from Saugatuck:

We fished a couple of days this past week and because of the dirty water after the blow last week, we had to fish from 190 foot of water out to 230 foot of water. We found a slick where the blue water started and the chalky water ended and the salmon and steelhead were found just inside the slick in the chalky water. Regular sized stingers (orange crush, orange corey, craigs christmas, jawbreaker) were pulled on almost all the lines from 60 foot of copper to 200 foot of copper, dipsy divers at 60 foot and 130 foot out and downriggers at 30, 40 and 50 foot down. Nice fish with 2 and 3 year old salmon and steelhead from 6 to 12 pounds.

We will probably be pulling the boat next week, however if you need fishing information or information about a fishing charter, email me at captron@chartermichigan.com or call me toll free at 888-253-8372

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

The north winds continue to blow, but when we can get out we are catching 2 and 3 year old Kings, Steelhead, Lake Trout and Cohos. Fishing is best on the bank from the brinewell to the three bears in from 120' out to 180' of water. Best fishing is in the top 70 ft. 5 cores, 7 and 10 cores, 300 and 350 coppers are all producing. Meat rigs on the low wires is a good setup right now. The pierheads are very slow because most of the salmon have gone up the river to spawn, although there are steelhead showing up. Some boats are casting ping a tees at the mouth of the river and having some success. The Pere Marquette River has salmon in it all the way up to Baldwin. Best times to fish the river are early AM and just before dark at night. Flatfish, Ping a Ts, and Storm Fire Tigers are top producers in the river.

Capt. Ron Westrate of First Call 2 Charters reports from Saugatuck:

Although we only fished a couple of times this week, the fishing was very good out in 140 foot of water with 15 to 20 fish per trip. In this deeper water you will find 3 and 2 year old chinook salmon, some 10 to 12 pound coho and an occasional lake trout and steelhead. We fished the downriggers at 80, 90 and 100 foot down with the dipsy divers at 100 ft. and 180 foot out and then 450 foot and 300 foot of copper if conditions allowed. Flashers and flies on all the lines with the best flashers being Stinger Echip green super frog, green glow/UV, mountain dew and green glow with any Rapture fly that was green or hypnotist with green beads.

We will be available for charters for the next couple weeks and then end the season. For charter reservations or fishing information email me at captron@chartermichigan

Capt. Ken Deaton of J-Lyn Charters reports from Harbor Beach:

A few Salmon are still being taken but it is on the slow side. Try straight out, South and North of the harbor fishing the 40 to 90 foot of water areas. Working deeper as the sun comes up, using clean spoons off the lead lines, dipseys, and downriggers, fish the top 40 to 80 feet of water using bright colors for best results. You might even try inside the harbor along the channel using J-Plugs, body baits and spoons as some are being taken there.

Brown Trout fishing is excellent inside the harbor! Use bright colored spoons working 7 to 9 feet down back 100 feet, working up and down the channel.

Lake Trout fishing is slow to fair. It will take a few days for them to start feeding with all of the rough water we have been having. Try straight out, and North of the harbor using the dodgers with spin and glows or flys close to the bottom or 120 feet down in the deeper areas. Try clean spoons off the downriggers. Fishing 50 feet down to 120 feet for best results.

Steelhead fishing has slowed with the fronts and rough water. When it calms down try straight out or North of the harbor, fish the color lines for best results. Be there early for a good bite. Put out some long lines on the boards, bright colors of spoons, small, and regular sizes for best results. Start in 50 feet of water and work out as the sun comes up. Fish from 20 to 60 feet down.

Walleye fishing is still very slow, try North and South of the harbor working in the 40 to 90 feet of water areas. They will be scattered so keep looking. Clean small spoons, hot n tots, and crawler harnesses will be your best chance.

Try for perch inside the harbor along the channel or South by the cemetery using minnows.

Keep those lines tight!
