FLASH-FLASH-FLASH

Don’t know how long this will last but nice catches of Kings being caught in
the harbor in Manistee. Anything green glo, both spoons and flys. Green
dolphins and NBK’s. Divers back 25 to 35 feet, with white DW paddles and
Spin Doctors. Natural fish not planted. 10 to 15 fish a trip, moving through
to the river.

Capt. Bruce Bronner from Kathys Boyz 3 Charters reports from Bolles Harbor:

Walleye action fair to good on the Michigan Ohio bordeline, Sputnick and McDonalds. No real large schools of fish yet. Fish are scattered in smaller schools chasing bait as wind and water temp changes. Jet divers and Mini Disks with spoons are the ticket. Trolling speeds around 2.2-2.5 mph. Lots of sorting going on with about a half a dozen throwbacks per trip and a majority of the keepers are smaller, younger class fish.

Captain Steve Hamilton of First Class Charters reports from Manistee.

Fishing has slowed down this week and past week end, some rain and wind and
more rain expected. So not alot to report!
I have seen a few Salmon brought in to be cleaned and today nice Lake Trout
being cleaned at the dock.
Not a good concentration of fish, still scattered. And the fish are not on
the feed, but that can all change in a matter of days.
Boats are going a little South out of the Harbor, still using lead core-5 to
10 colors, divers back anywhere from 50 to 125 ft.and the riggers can vary
dependent on the time of day.
Yeck Spoons are still good-Salmon Stomper and the DW SS in Riverside and Fly
Girl.
We have seen some fish caught on a lure called the Shoe Horn, in a variety
of glo colors! Check it out! It has a flat head.
Of course the KRW fly-Green Glo and a new one called the Witch doctor.
And the stand bys of the Spin Doctors and DW Paddles, with white slick tape.
We will keep you posted of the week end fishing and will soon have lots more
to report.
Good Fishing!

Capt. Ken Deaton of J-Lyn Charters reports from Harbor Beach:

Coho, Pinks, and King Salmon are still being taken mixed in with the Lake Trout using medium and magnum size spoons off the boards and downriggers from 30 to 70 foot down in the same depth of water. Try adding Tadpole weights with spoons off the Offshore boards to get the lines down deeper.
Limits of Lake Trout are still being taken straight out, North and South of the harbor on Dodgers and Spin and glows fished right down on the bottom. Continue using the medium and large size spoons off the downriggers as well. Best colors continue to be glow in the dark, pink with white dots, yellow, green, and black colors. Work the 70 to 130 foot of water areas for best results.
Steelhead are being taken out on the color lines in 90 to 120 feet of water, try the new Offshore Tadpoles on with your monofilament lines to get them down deeper. The Offshore boards are also working well with 5 and 10 color lead lines with bright color spoons.
Perch fishing is on the slow side but should start picking up. Try by the Light House and along the channel inside the harbor with minnows and night crawlers. You might want to try South of the harbor by the cemetery in 20 to 40 feet of water as well.
Walleye fishing is on the slow side still, try off the North wall early morning and late evening casting small body baits and spoons. Try the green, silver and blue colors. Also try trolling out in 18 to 40 feet of water with crawler harnesses, small spoons and small body baits.

Bass and Pike are being taken inside the harbor and close to shore casting small body baits and spoons.

Captain Ron Westrate of CoHooker Charters reports from Saugatuck:

The old saying that “fishing slows when the cotton flies” seems to
holding true. The fishing has definitely slowed down this last week
with catches of 4 to 8 fish per trip. You can catch some fish in 40 to
50 foot of water, 70 to 90 foot of water, 100 to 115 foot of water and
on out to 180 foot. A few fish scattered through out and no big
concentration anywhere. We took steelhead and salmon with half core and
100 foot of copper, salmon on 200 and 300 foot of copper and lake trout
and a few salmon on downriggers and deep divers.

The best lures continue to be orange Corey stingrays and orange crush
stingers on the 100 copper and NBK and carmel dolphin stingrays on the
200 and 300 copper. On the low divers we are running some flashers and
flies and the best combination continues to be the mountain dew Pro Chip
and purple no see um Rapture flies. To get catch the lake trout we are
using metal flashers and the Rapture green dude and last supper fly.

With the rough water and wind today, we may see a change in the water
and a grouping of the fish around the bait. Hopefully the fishing will
begin to improve. For information and/or charter reservations, email me
at captron@chartermichigan.com.

Captain Ed Stowe of Stowaway Charters reports from Ludington:

From the project to the 0400s are the best waters lately. We are taking Chinook Salmon, Steelhead and Lake Trout. 3 Cores, 5 cores and 10 cores, 150′ and 300′ coppers are all taking fish. Surface temps are warming up with the recent nice weather. Dolphin spoons on the cores, lemon ice and green gloes on the riggers and spin doctors on the wire divers. We are taking fish all over in the water column on the riggers. The fish are very fiesty and give a good fight, although there are a lot of smaller fish in the area right now. Good Fishin….Capt Ed
