Capt. Dan Tebo, of D’Ann Marie Charters in Grand Haven reports:

Fishing is very good here in Grand Haven right now.

We are fishing from 105 ft. out 115 ft. of water.
We are fishing from 60 ft. down to 95 ft.

We are getting excellent catches of Kings up to 20 lbs. and a few lake trout.

I’ve been using assorted spinnies and flies: Chrome/blue spinnies and also Chrome/green spinnies.
Also, assorted spoons – again blues and greens seem to be the best for us.

We are using 225, 300, and 450 coppers and 10 and 15 color lead cores.

Summer is definitely here and so are the fish! Come on out and take a look for yourselves.

Capt. Ken Deaton of J-Lyn Charters reports from Harbor Beach:

Lake Trout fishing is starting to pick back up again, try out in 90 to 120 feet of water on the Dodgers and Spin and glows, and medium and large size spoons off the downriggers. Try green with white, purple and green, and glow colors. Try fishing straight out, and North of the harbor.
Some Steelhead are being taken out on the color lines in 110 to 150 feet of water, don’t forget to try the new Offshore Tadpoles on with your monofilament lines to get them down deeper when using your Offshore Boards. Use the bright colors for best results
Walleye fishing is picking up with some limits being taken North of the harbor with crawler harnesses, small spoons and small body baits. Try Gold and green and white colors. You might try off the North wall early morning and late evenings casting body baits or small spoons.
Perch fishing is slow, you might try South of the harbor by the cemetery in 25 to 50 feet of water with minnows.
Bass and Pike are still being taken inside the harbor and close to shore casting small body baits and spoons.

Captain Terry Walsh of Termar Charters reports from AuGres:

Walleye fishing in the AuGres area of Saginaw Bay has been spotty the last couple of weeks due to extremely HOT weather, bug hatches, and a mix of thunder storms and very windy conditions. Fishing started picking up again yesterday (Monday) in the 15-17-foot depths where anglers trolled primarily with crawler harnesses. Experiment with blade colors and leader length, as the fish have been very selective of late. Plastic baits, especially the 5/8-ounce “Rattle Tots”, have been very effective. Again, a lot of color experimentation has been necessary.

Good fishing!

Captain Ron Westrate of CoHooker Charters reports from Saugatuck:

We had another good week of fishing with catches ranging for 8-15 fish
a trip. There is a definite early bite with most of the catch coming in
the first 3 hours. Chinook salmon and lake trout made up the greatest
part of the catch, with a few steelhead and coho mixed in. The best
water was 90-110 FOW, but fish were taken from 80-180 FOW. During the
beginning of the week the water was a little warmer and fish were caught
50-100 feet down. The water cooled off on Thursday and fish were taken
30-80 feet down.

Pro Chip flashers and Rapture flies were at most productive
presentation. The best combinations were: blue wiggle flasher w/ a
blue bubble fly, green wiggle flasher w/ a wild fern fly, green slick
glow flasher w/ a hypnotist fly, and a chrome green flasher w/ a last
supper fly. Fish were caught on Sting Ray spoon on the copper lines
throughout the week. Silver orange tip, coyote, glow wonderbread, and
the blue cory spoons were all productive. The dolphin and pearl black
dot Ace Hi plugs on copper also produced some action over the weekend.

Perch fishing was slow out of Saugatuck and Holland, however it was red
hot in South Haven with limit catches being reported.

With a warm weather forecast in sight we expect the fish to continue to
congregate in the 90-150 FOW during the upcoming week. For information
