The past several months have been challenging as the MCBA Board of Directors worked in overdrive to bring the Drug and Alcohol Plan into compliance with the United States Coast Guard regulations.

Michigan Charter Boat Association has teamed up with Michigan Sea Grant to address these expectations in detail at the following training sessions:

Supervisory Drug & Alcohol Training Certification
MCBA Participant Policy for posting on board

Question and answer sessions with:

  • Dean Hobbs and Captain Larry Lienczewski, MCBA Drug & Alcohol Administrators
  • ENS Selena Warnke, USCG 9th District DAPI (Drug Awareness Program Inspector)
  • Mr. Tom Gilbert, MCBA SAP (Substance Abuse Professional)

Topics to be discussed:

  1. Random collections done ‘Reasonably’ throughout the year
  2. DER (Designated Employer Representative) responsibilities
  3. Your responsibility as DER; can you be your own DER?
  4. What is ‘immediate’ collection when notified for Random Testing?
  5. What is a RTT (Refusal-to-test) or a non-negative test result?
  6. Collection Site protocols (Can you leave when you can’t produce a specimen?)
  7. Should you keep a copy of your collection CCF (Custody Control Form)?
