Captain Ryan Sagady from Bay Sportfishing Charters reports from Saginaw Bay:

The Michigan Walleye Tour was on Saginaw Bay this past weekend and limits were the norm at the weigh in. Congratulations to Rick and Kal Ustishen, who brought in a two-day total of 44.65 lbs., to take home the first place trophy. Ed Clements and I finished a very disappointing 17th in the event. We caught tons of fish on both Saturday and Sunday, but good sized fish were difficult to come by.

Fish have started to move out of the shallow water and can be found in 11-15 feet. Try pulling either crawler harnesses or stickbaits around the old dumping grounds area just west of the shipping channel and around Callahan Reef.

Captain Dan Cruchon From Stormy Chinook Charters reports from Port Austin:

Had 3 trips this week out of Lexington: Coho's are still biting in 8-18 feet of water, running Long-A Bombers 120-150' off the big planer boards. Try to find the off-colored water. If you get out deeper, Lake Trout fishing is excellent. We caught 8 Lakers in the 8-12 lb. range in 30', mainly running dipsys 50' back, with magnum spoons. The hottest color was Green Alewife. Some Kings up to 13 lbs are scattered from 30 to 70 feet of water, but no concentrations are being found. I will be reporting from the Grindstone/Port Austin area until I move to Frankfort late July.

Captain Ken Deaton of J-Lyn Charters reports from Harbor Beach:

Salmon Fishing is fair to good with some nice size Salmon being taken straight out and South of the harbor in close to shore. Try small spoons and body baits for best results. Best colors have been blue, gray and green. Get those lines back a way for best results.

Cohos have been being taken mixed in with the Salmon on the same lures.

Lake Trout are also being taken in close to shore using small spoons off the down riggers.

Perch fishing is slow, you might want to try by the Light House or along the channel by the main gap of the harbor.

Keep those lines tight!

Captain Ken Deaton of J-Lyn Charters reports from Harbor Beach:

Some Salmon and Coho are being taken outside the wall and South of the harbor in 25 to 30 feet of water using body baits and small Pro King lures. Lake Trout are also being taken on the same lures, but put them back till the 1st of May though! No reports on perch being taken as of yet. Get out there and give it a try, they should start any time!

Captain Dan Cruchon From Stormy Chinook Charters reports from Port Austin:

Fishing has been the best in several years for southern Lake huron. The recent hotspot has been out of Lexington, either north or south of the harbor. Some Kings to 13 lbs have been taken in 8-20 feet of water, with lots of Coho and smaller Kings in the 4 lb range. There have been a lot of Lake Trout releases, but if you stay inside of 20 ft, there aren't many Lake trout. Try to find the off-colored water(not too muddy, or too clear). The best baits are like the old days - Long A Bombers in orange, green, chartreuse and gold combinations. I will be happy to give information on the radio if you call me on channel 68.
